Yemen’s Houthis say they attacked Saudi oil tankers in Red Sea, Gulf of Aden

DUBAI, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis said on Wednesday they had launched a missile attack on a Saudi oil tanker off the coast of the kingdom’s Red Sea port city of Yanbu and another missile attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

There was no confirmation from Saudi Arabia on either incident.

The Houthis’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, did not say when the attacks took place.

The Houthis have imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea since last month in response to what they described as a Saudi siege on Yemen, an allegation Riyadh has denied.

DUBAI, 5 agosto (Reuters) - Gli Houthi yemeniti, alleati dell’Iran, hanno dichiarato mercoledì di aver sferrato un attacco missilistico contro una petroliera saudita al largo della città portuale di Yanbu, sul Mar Rosso, e un altro attacco missilistico contro una petroliera saudita nel Golfo di Aden.

Non vi è stata alcuna conferma da parte dell’Arabia Saudita in merito a nessuno dei due incidenti.

Il portavoce militare degli Houthi, Yahya Saree, non ha specificato quando siano avvenuti gli attacchi.

Gli Houthi hanno imposto un blocco navale all’Arabia Saudita nel Mar Rosso a partire dal mese scorso, in risposta a quello che hanno definito un assedio saudita allo Yemen, un’accusa che Riyadh ha negato.
