Iran says Strait of Hormuz is under its control, Fars news reports

DUBAI, Aug 13 (Reuters) - The Strait of Hormuz is “under Iran’s control and management”, the head of Iran’s Basij paramilitary unit, Hossein Taeb, said on Thursday, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

The remarks came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that the U.S. had “total control” of the strategic waterway.

Taeb said the United States had sought to disrupt what he described as the Islamic Republic’s popularity in the region by launching another war in the Strait of Hormuz, but had once more been defeated despite claiming Iran had neither an air force nor a navy.

“Today you see that the Strait of Hormuz is under the management and control of the Islamic Republic,” Taeb said, adding that Iran was continuing on its course in complete security.

DUBAI, 13 agosto (Reuters) - Lo Stretto di Hormuz è “sotto il controllo e la gestione dell’Iran”, ha affermato giovedì il capo dell’unità paramilitare iraniana Basij, Hossein Taeb, secondo quanto riportato dall’agenzia di stampa semi-ufficiale Fars.

Le dichiarazioni sono state rilasciate il giorno dopo che il presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump aveva scritto sulla sua piattaforma Truth Social che gli Stati Uniti avevano il “controllo totale” di quella via navigabile strategica.

Taeb ha affermato che gli Stati Uniti avevano cercato di minare quella che ha definito la popolarità della Repubblica Islamica nella regione scatenando un’altra guerra nello Stretto di Ormuz, ma erano stati ancora una volta sconfitti nonostante avessero sostenuto che l’Iran non disponesse né di una forza aerea né di una marina militare.

«Oggi si vede che lo Stretto di Ormuz è sotto la gestione e il controllo della Repubblica Islamica», ha detto Taeb, aggiungendo che l’Iran sta proseguendo il proprio percorso in totale sicurezza.
