Zelenskiy holds call with UAE counterpart

KYIV, May 11 (Reuters) - President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday discussed with the United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan UAE’s assistance in bringing Ukrainians back from Russian captivity and the war in Iran.

Since the start of the wake of the Iran war, Ukraine has offered its battle-tested expertise in countering drones to the UAE and a handful of other Middle Eastern countries. Kyiv and the UAE struck a 10-year defence cooperation deal.

“I was glad to hear that Ukrainian expertise is truly helping to build reliable protection for lives. We discussed continuing this work,” Zelenskiy said on X.

“I am grateful to the UAE that our agreements are being implemented on the basis of reciprocity and that Ukraine is also receiving the support it needs, including in the energy sector,” Zelenskiy added.

Kiev, 11 maggio (Reuters) - Il presidente Volodymyr Zelenskiy ha discusso lunedì con il presidente degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, lo sceicco Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, dell’assistenza degli Emirati Arabi Uniti per riportare gli ucraini dalla prigionia russa e della guerra in Iran.

Dall’inizio della guerra in Iran, l’Ucraina ha offerto agli Emirati Arabi Uniti e a una manciata di altri Paesi del Medio Oriente la sua esperienza collaudata nel contrastare i droni. Kiev e gli Emirati Arabi Uniti hanno stretto un accordo di cooperazione nel settore della difesa della durata di 10 anni.

“Mi ha fatto piacere sentire che l’esperienza ucraina sta davvero aiutando a costruire una protezione affidabile per le vite umane. Abbiamo discusso di continuare questo lavoro”, ha dichiarato Zelenskiy su X.

“Sono grato agli Emirati Arabi Uniti che i nostri accordi vengano attuati sulla base della reciprocità e che l’Ucraina stia ricevendo il sostegno di cui ha bisogno, anche nel settore energetico”, ha aggiunto Zelenskiy.
