BEIJING, May 26 (Reuters) - China on Tuesday reiterated its stance on the Australia-India-Japan-US Quad group, saying cooperation between countries should contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity, and should not target any third party.

“We also do not support the formation of exclusive cliques or bloc confrontation. No cooperation should undermine mutual trust and cooperation among regional countries,” China’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, told a daily press conference.

The foreign ministers of Australia, India, Japan and the U.S. gathered on Tuesday in India and agreed to jointly build a port in Fiji and signed pacts covering critical minerals and energy security.

BEIJING, 26 maggio (Reuters) - La Cina ha ribadito martedì la sua posizione sul gruppo Quad Australia-India-Giappone-Stati Uniti, affermando che la cooperazione tra i Paesi dovrebbe contribuire alla pace, alla stabilità e alla prosperità regionale e non dovrebbe essere rivolta a terzi.

“Non sosteniamo inoltre la formazione di cricche esclusive o il confronto tra blocchi. Nessuna cooperazione dovrebbe minare la fiducia reciproca e la cooperazione tra i Paesi della regione”, ha dichiarato il portavoce del ministero degli Esteri cinese, Mao Ning, in una conferenza stampa quotidiana.

I ministri degli esteri di Australia, India, Giappone e Stati Uniti si sono riuniti martedì in India e hanno concordato di costruire congiuntamente un porto nelle Figi e hanno firmato patti che riguardano i minerali critici e la sicurezza energetica.
