WASHINGTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Thursday said the United States is investigating an airstrike that Iran says struck a wedding party in Iran.

“We’re investigating it because obviously we care. We want to know,” Vance told reporters during a White House press briefing.

“If we do make mistakes, again, this is a big difference between us and Iran, when our military makes mistakes, they learn from them to try to get better from them,” Vance added.

Iranian officials say four people died and nearly 70 were wounded by a strike that hit a home during a wedding. Iranian state TV reported on Thursday that a fifth person, a 22-year-old woman, had since died in hospital.

The U.S. military has said it was aware of the Iranian reports but that it “never targets civilians”.

WASHINGTON, 3 settembre (Reuters) - Il vicepresidente degli Stati Uniti JD Vance ha dichiarato giovedì che gli Stati Uniti stanno indagando su un attacco aereo che, secondo l’Iran, avrebbe colpito una festa di matrimonio in Iran.

«Stiamo indagando perché ovviamente la questione ci sta a cuore. Vogliamo sapere cosa è successo», ha dichiarato Vance ai giornalisti durante una conferenza stampa alla Casa Bianca.

«Se commettiamo degli errori, ripeto, questa è una grande differenza tra noi e l’Iran: quando le nostre forze armate commettono errori, imparano da essi per cercare di migliorare», ha aggiunto Vance.

Funzionari iraniani affermano che quattro persone sono morte e quasi 70 sono rimaste ferite a seguito di un attacco che ha colpito un’abitazione durante una cerimonia di nozze. La TV di Stato iraniana ha riferito giovedì che una quinta persona, una donna di 22 anni, è deceduta in ospedale.

L’esercito statunitense ha dichiarato di essere a conoscenza delle notizie iraniane, ma ha precisato di «non prendere mai di mira i civili».
