THE HAGUE, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Former Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte appeared in public for the first time on Wednesday since being transferred to the International Criminal Court 18 months ago to face murder charges related to his war on drugs.

Duterte, 81, appeared in the ICC courtroom in The Hague dressed in a black suit and white shirt, for a hearing about his health and ability to stand trial, which is scheduled to begin in November.

He did not speak in court.

His lawyers have argued that he suffers from cognitive decline and is not well enough to stand trial.

L’AIA, 16 settembre (Reuters) - Mercoledì l’ex presidente delle Filippine Rodrigo Duterte è apparso in pubblico per la prima volta da quando, 18 mesi fa, è stato deferito alla Corte penale internazionale per rispondere di accuse di omicidio legate alla sua guerra alla droga.

Duterte, 81 anni, è comparso nell’aula della Corte penale internazionale all’Aia, vestito con un abito nero e una camicia bianca, per un’udienza riguardante il suo stato di salute e la sua idoneità a sostenere il processo, il cui inizio è previsto per novembre.

Non ha preso la parola in aula.

I suoi avvocati hanno sostenuto che soffre di declino cognitivo e non è in condizioni sufficientemente buone per affrontare il processo.
