WASHINGTON, July 8 (Reuters) - The U.S. military is conducting fresh strikes on Iran, the U.S. Central Command said on Wednesday, hours after President Donald Trump declared that an interim agreement to end the war with Iran was “over.”

It said the strikes were aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway,” U.S. Central Command wrote in a post on X.

WASHINGTON, 8 luglio (Reuters) - L’esercito statunitense sta conducendo nuovi attacchi contro l’Iran, ha dichiarato mercoledì il Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti, poche ore dopo che il presidente Donald Trump aveva dichiarato che l’accordo provvisorio per porre fine alla guerra con l’Iran era “finito”.

Ha affermato che gli attacchi miravano a ridurre la capacità dell’Iran di minacciare la libertà di navigazione nello Stretto di Ormuz.

«Gli Stati Uniti ritengono l’Iran responsabile delle recenti aggressioni ingiustificate contro le navi mercantili e gli equipaggi civili che navigavano liberamente in una via navigabile internazionale di vitale importanza», ha scritto il Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti in un post su X.
