US says it launched strikes against Iran after attack on Cyprus-flagged container ship

WASHINGTON, July 11 (Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Saturday it launched a new round of strikes against Iran after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces attacked a Cyprus-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

“A civilian crew member is missing and the vessel is unable to continue the journey due to an onboard fire and significant engineroom damage,” the U.S. Central Command said in a statement on X.

The U.S. Central Command said the strikes were carried out at the direction of President Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON, 11 luglio (Reuters) - Sabato l’esercito statunitense ha dichiarato di aver lanciato una nuova serie di attacchi contro l’Iran dopo che le forze del Corpo delle Guardie Rivoluzionarie Islamiche hanno attaccato una nave portacontainer battente bandiera cipriota che transitava nello Stretto di Ormuz.

“Un membro dell’equipaggio civile è disperso e la nave non è in grado di proseguire il viaggio a causa di un incendio a bordo e di ingenti danni alla sala macchine”, ha dichiarato il Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti in un comunicato diffuso il X.

Il Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti ha precisato che gli attacchi sono stati effettuati su ordine del presidente Donald Trump.
