Detained Iranian fishermen freed in UAE, Iran embassy says

DUBAI, July 14 (Reuters) - Fifty-five Iranian fishermen have been freed from custody in the United Arab Emirates, Iran’s embassy there said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.

The fishermen were detained by the UAE’s coast guard in recent months due to “special conditions” in the region, the embassy added, in a likely reference to the Iran war. The process to send them home had started, the embassy said.

DUBAI, 14 luglio (Reuters) - Cinquantacinque pescatori iraniani sono stati rilasciati dagli Emirati Arabi Uniti, secondo quanto comunicato martedì dall’ambasciata iraniana nel Paese tramite il proprio canale Telegram.

I pescatori erano stati arrestati dalla guardia costiera degli Emirati Arabi Uniti nei mesi scorsi a causa di “condizioni particolari” nella regione, ha aggiunto l’ambasciata, probabilmente in riferimento alla guerra con l’Iran. È stata avviata la procedura per il loro rimpatrio, ha precisato l’ambasciata.
