July 23 (Reuters) - Indian activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his hunger strike after 26 days, he said on Friday.

He said in a post on X that he had ended his fast after “a long negotiation on various conditions and in view of possible violence in the country”.

Wangchuk, 59, had been on a hunger strike since June 28 in solidarity with India’s youth-led “cockroach movement” that is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over medical college entrance test paper leaks.

23 luglio (Reuters) - L’attivista indiano Sonam Wangchuk ha interrotto il suo sciopero della fame dopo 26 giorni, come ha dichiarato venerdì.

In un post pubblicato su X ha dichiarato di aver interrotto il digiuno dopo «lunghe trattative su varie condizioni e in vista di possibili episodi di violenza nel paese».

Wangchuk, 59 anni, era in sciopero della fame dal 28 giugno in solidarietà con il “movimento degli scarafaggi” guidato dai giovani indiani, che chiede le dimissioni del ministro dell’Istruzione Dharmendra Pradhan a seguito della fuga di notizie sui test di ammissione alle facoltà di medicina.
