VALLETTA, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Maltese businessman Yorgen Fenech, who was accused of commissioning the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, was acquitted on Wednesday at the end of a jury trial.

Fenech, 44, was tried for complicity to murder and for the lesser charge of criminal association to commit murder. Had he been found guilty, he could have faced up to life imprisonment.

LA VALETTA, 2 settembre (Reuters) - L’imprenditore maltese Yorgen Fenech, accusato di aver commissionato l’omicidio della giornalista d’inchiesta Daphne Caruana Galizia, è stato assolto mercoledì al termine di un processo con giuria.

Fenech, 44 anni, era sotto processo per complicità in omicidio e per il reato minore di associazione a delinquere finalizzata all’omicidio. Se fosse stato dichiarato colpevole, avrebbe potuto rischiare fino all’ergastolo.
