BRASILIA, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Brazil’s Supreme Court opened an investigation in July into Senator Flavio Bolsonaro over alleged corruption and money laundering crimes as part of a broader probe into failed lender Banco Master, according to a court document unsealed on Friday.
The eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro is the leading right-wing challenger to leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in next month’s election.
The investigation into Flavio Bolsonaro was opened by Justice Andre Mendonca following a request from Brazil’s Federal Police, which pointed to donations made by Banco Master’s former chief executive Daniel Vorcaro to a movie about the senator’s father.
