DAKAR, June 11 (Reuters) - Congo’s Ebola outbreak has spread to three new health zones, according to a government report published on Thursday that showed the number of confirmed cases had risen to 676, including 136 deaths.

The figure represented the total number of confirmed cases as of Wednesday, the health minister said in a post on X.

The new health zones impacted by the outbreak were in North Kivu and Ituri, the report said.

A health zone in Congo’s healthcare system covers a defined area with a network of clinics and a referral hospital, covering around 100,000 to 150,000 people. There are over 500 health zones in the country.

DAKAR, 11 giugno (Reuters) - L’epidemia di Ebola in Congo si è diffusa in tre nuove zone sanitarie, secondo un rapporto del governo pubblicato giovedì che ha mostrato come il numero di casi confermati sia salito a 676, inclusi 136 decessi.

La cifra rappresenta il numero totale di casi confermati fino a mercoledì, ha dichiarato il ministro della sanità in un post su X.

Le nuove zone sanitarie colpite dall’epidemia si trovano nel Nord Kivu e nell’Ituri, secondo il rapporto.

Nel sistema sanitario congolese, una zona sanitaria copre un’area definita con una rete di cliniche e un ospedale di riferimento, servendo circa 100.000-150.000 persone. Nel paese ci sono oltre 500 zone sanitarie.
