Iran’s IRGC says two tankers and tugboat caught fire in Strait of Hormuz

Nov 5 (Reuters) - Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Thursday that two oil tankers and a tugboat had caught fire in separate incidents after attempting to use unauthorised routes through the Strait of Hormuz.

One tanker struck a mine while attempting to cross a passage south of the strait, while another supertanker caught fire while exiting the route in the eastern part of the waterway, the IRGC said. A tugboat that approached the second vessel to help extinguish the fire also caught fire.

5 novembre (Reuters) - Il Corpo delle Guardie Rivoluzionarie Islamiche iraniane ha dichiarato giovedì che due petroliere e un rimorchiatore hanno preso fuoco in incidenti distinti dopo aver tentato di percorrere rotte non autorizzate attraverso lo Stretto di Hormuz.

Una petroliera ha urtato una mina mentre tentava di attraversare un passaggio a sud dello stretto, mentre un’altra superpetroliera ha preso fuoco mentre usciva dalla rotta nella parte orientale del canale, ha affermato l’IRGC. Anche un rimorchiatore che si era avvicinato alla seconda nave per aiutare a spegnere l’incendio ha preso fuoco.
