WASHINGTON, March 2 (Reuters) - The “big wave” is yet to come in the war with Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump told CNN on Monday, adding that Washington did not know who the country’s new leader would be following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“We haven’t even started hitting them hard. The big wave hasn’t even happened. The big one is coming soon,” Trump said, telling CNN it was unclear who was now leading the country.

“We don’t know who the leadership is. We don’t know who they’ll pick,” he said.

Reuters reported on Sunday that many senior U.S. officials remain skeptical the military operation against the Islamic Republic will lead to a regime change in the near term.

WASHINGTON, 2 marzo (Reuters) - La “grande ondata” deve ancora arrivare nella guerra con l’Iran, ha detto lunedì alla CNN il presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump, aggiungendo che Washington non sa chi sarà il nuovo leader del paese dopo l’uccisione dell’ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“Non abbiamo nemmeno iniziato a colpirli duramente. La grande ondata non è ancora avvenuta. La grande ondata arriverà presto”, ha detto Trump, affermando alla CNN che non è chiaro chi sia ora alla guida del Paese.

“Non sappiamo chi sia la leadership. Non sappiamo chi sceglieranno”, ha detto.

Reuters ha riferito domenica che molti alti funzionari statunitensi rimangono scettici sul fatto che l’operazione militare contro la Repubblica islamica porterà a un cambio di regime nel breve termine.
