DUBAI, April 11 (Reuters) - A senior Iranian source said on Saturday the U.S. had agreed to release Iranian frozen assets that were held in Qatar and other foreign banks, welcoming the move as a sign of “seriousness” in reaching a deal with Washington in talks in Islamabad.

The United States has not made any public comments on the issue of unfreezing assets.

The source, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, told Reuters that unfreezing the assets was “directly linked to ensuring safe passage through Strait of Hormuz”, which is expected to be a key issue in the talks.

DUBAI, 11 aprile (Reuters) - Un’alta fonte iraniana ha detto sabato che gli Stati Uniti hanno accettato di sbloccare i beni congelati iraniani detenuti in Qatar e in altre banche straniere, accogliendo la mossa come un segno di “serietà” nel raggiungere un accordo con Washington nei colloqui a Islamabad.

Gli Stati Uniti non hanno rilasciato alcun commento pubblico sulla questione dello scongelamento dei beni.

La fonte, che ha rifiutato di essere nominata a causa della delicatezza della questione, ha detto a Reuters che lo scongelamento dei beni era “direttamente collegato alla garanzia di un passaggio sicuro attraverso lo Stretto di Hormuz”, che dovrebbe essere una questione chiave nei colloqui.
