PARIS, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity and right to exist, in a statement published on Tuesday, coinciding with the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“We express our continued support for President Trump’s efforts to achieve these objectives by initiating a peace process and bringing the parties to direct discussions. Europe has a leading role to play in this process, joined by other partners,” they said

“We acknowledge that only Ukraine and Russia, working together in good faith negotiations, can reach a peace agreement,” the statement, that appeared to be backed by Washington, said.

“Esprimiamo il nostro continuo sostegno agli sforzi del presidente Trump per raggiungere questi obiettivi avviando un processo di pace e portando le parti a discutere direttamente. L’Europa ha un ruolo di primo piano da svolgere in questo processo, insieme ad altri partner”, hanno dichiarato

“Riconosciamo che solo l’Ucraina e la Russia, lavorando insieme in negoziati in buona fede, possono raggiungere un accordo di pace”, si legge nella dichiarazione, che sembra essere sostenuta da Washington.
