South Korea’s Lee to hold summit with Singapore’s Wong on AI, tech cooperation

SEOUL, March 2 (Reuters) - South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will meet Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Monday for a summit aimed at expanding cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence and nuclear energy, during a state visit to the city-state.

Lee and Wong will hold talks followed by a joint press statement and a lunch, according to South Korea’s presidential Blue House.

The leaders are expected to announce the start of negotiations to upgrade their existing free trade agreement, it said.

The countries are also expected to sign five memorandums of understanding (MOUs), covering areas such as AI, small modular reactors (SMRs), and the digital and technology sectors.

During his visit, Lee is also expected to attend a conference on AI, meet Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and attend a state banquet, according to the Blue House.
