MILAN, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Pope Leo on Sunday said ongoing Russian attacks against Ukraine were leaving civilians in the country exposed to the cold of winter, and called for an end to the conflict.

“The protracted hostilities … have increasingly serious implications for civilians,” Pope Leo said after his weekly Angelus prayer.

“I urge everyone to intensify their efforts to end this war.”

MILANO, 25 gennaio (Reuters) - Papa Leone domenica ha detto che gli attacchi russi in corso contro l’Ucraina stanno lasciando i civili del Paese esposti al freddo dell’inverno e ha chiesto la fine del conflitto.

“Il protrarsi delle ostilità… ha implicazioni sempre più gravi per i civili”, ha detto Papa Leone dopo la preghiera settimanale dell’Angelus.

“Esorto tutti a intensificare gli sforzi per porre fine a questa guerra”.
