WASHINGTON, March 4 (Reuters) - The United States military carried out a strike that hit an Iranian warship off Sri Lanka’s coast, three U.S. officials told Reuters on Wednesday.

One of the officials, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was carried out by a U.S. military submarine.

Earlier, Sri Lankan authorities said they had rescued 32 people who were on board the ship and recovered several bodies from the sea.

WASHINGTON, 4 marzo (Reuters) - L’esercito degli Stati Uniti ha effettuato un attacco che ha colpito una nave da guerra iraniana al largo delle coste dello Sri Lanka, hanno dichiarato mercoledì tre funzionari statunitensi alla Reuters.

Uno dei funzionari, che parlava a condizione di anonimato, ha detto che l’attacco è stato effettuato da un sottomarino militare statunitense.

In precedenza, le autorità dello Sri Lanka hanno detto di aver salvato 32 persone che erano a bordo della nave e di aver recuperato diversi corpi dal mare.
