BEIJING, March 18 (Reuters) - China will continue mediating to push for a ceasefire and an end to fighting in the Middle East, its foreign minister said, adding the war should never have happened and had no reason to continue, according to a foreign ministry statement.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting in Beijing with the UAE presidential special envoy to China, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, in which he also voiced support for the UAE in safeguarding its sovereignty and security.

BEIJING, 18 marzo (Reuters) - La Cina continuerà a mediare per spingere per un cessate il fuoco e la fine dei combattimenti in Medio Oriente, ha detto il suo ministro degli esteri, aggiungendo che la guerra non sarebbe mai dovuta accadere e non aveva motivo di continuare, secondo un comunicato del ministero degli esteri.

Il ministro degli esteri Wang Yi ha fatto queste osservazioni mercoledì durante un incontro a Pechino con l’inviato speciale della presidenza degli Emirati Arabi Uniti in Cina, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, in cui ha anche espresso il suo sostegno agli Emirati Arabi Uniti nella salvaguardia della loro sovranità e sicurezza.
