BUENOS AIRES, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Venezuela has received more than 1,550 requests under its new amnesty law, National Assembly president Jorge Rodriguez said on state-run television on Saturday.

Rodriguez said that hundreds of prisoners are currently being released under the law.

Venezuela’s ruling party-controlled legislature on Thursday approved the amnesty bill, which human rights organizations say falls short of offering relief for hundreds of political prisoners in the country.

BUENOS AIRES, 21 febbraio (Reuters) - Il Venezuela ha ricevuto più di 1.550 richieste in base alla sua nuova legge sull’amnistia, ha detto sabato il presidente dell’Assemblea Nazionale Jorge Rodriguez alla televisione statale.

Rodriguez ha detto che centinaia di prigionieri sono attualmente in fase di rilascio in base alla legge.

La legislatura del Venezuela, controllata dal partito di governo, ha approvato giovedì il disegno di legge sull’amnistia, che secondo le organizzazioni per i diritti umani non è in grado di offrire sollievo a centinaia di prigionieri politici nel Paese.
